How to Save $2,500 on a Stair-Building Project
Cleveland, Ohio—For the first time, moderately-skilled do-your-selfers can
be successful building a set of stairs. The result can be savings of $1,000's.
For example, a woman do-it-yourselfer wanted to completely rebuild the main
staircase on a fixer-upper. The bid was $3,000 from a contractor. It was fair,
but she decided I just didn't want to spend that much.
"Then I came across the Universal Stair Bracket system. We saved a lot…on
both time and materials. I used it once and ordered more for another staircase.
The total cost was $500!"
Others agree:
"For the do-it-yourselfer with one or two projects, it is outstanding" - Frank
Tompkins, Lisbon, DE
"In my opinion, anyone would be able to build a staircase, in about half the
time" -- Jason Miller, Akron, OH
"Great product, and easy to use" - Brett Curnow, Aurora, CO
The GoPro Universal Stair Bracket is available at participating Do it Best,
Orgill, and Lumberman's dealers.
The conventional way to build a set of stairs is to start with two 2 x 12's,
and then hope that you don't make a mistake cutting the notches. (A mistake, of
course, means you'll be buying another 2 x 12.)
With the Universal Stair Bracket system, you can start with 2 x 6's, and you
screw in the brackets using the imprinted scale markings. If you make a mistake,
you unscrew and reposition the bracket. No waste. And it's stronger.
The system is easier, and it saves time and money. It's greener, too. It
promises to revolutionize the building of deck staircases.
The new GoPro™ universal stair bracket system is the only system with
brackets that have imprinted scale markings indicating the staircase rise and
run. Thus, properly attaching the brackets according to the pre-determined rise
and run of each stair is a snap. You simply match the meeting of the brackets at
the indicated markings, which can accommodate all pitches, rises and runs.
The benefits are many:
- It easily adjusts to any staircase pitch.
- Big time savings -- minimal marking and cutting, and less waste.
- Less wood-to-wood contact means less squeaking than with conventional stairs.
- It virtually eliminates mistakes, which cost time and money.
- You need to make only one mark and cut on the stringer - for the first step.
- It avoids top and bottom step issues.
- It enables carpenters and DIYers of all skills to build stringers,
drastically reducing teaching time.
- You can use a 2x6 or 2x8 instead of a 2x12 without sacrificing strength or
quality.
- The system can be used for interior or exterior stairs, and with all natural,
treated, or artificial woods.
- Adding a middle stringer is easy.
- You can screw in the brackets from underneath for a more aesthetic look.
System Receives Industry Recognition
The patented Universal Stair Bracket has already received accolades from the
industry. It has earned the Member-Tested Seal of Approval from Handy magazine.
The product was named "one of the top 10 most interesting products" at the
International Builder's Show by Fine Homebuilding magazine. Lumber and Building
Materials Journal tapped the USB as a top new product, and Extreme How-To editor
Hal Jones claims that the USB "saves time and lumber. It's fast. It's easy and
it works."
The system includes left-side, right side, and bottom brackets made from
sturdy 16-gauge triple-hot-dipped zinc galvanized steel. When middle stringers
are required, left- or right-side brackets can be used.
The system is great for deck stairs, too. Many wide decks require a middle
stringer, which is particularly easy to add with the GoPro system.
The brackets meet all requirements of the IRC and IBC building codes as per
IAPMO-ER-122.
The brackets are being made in the USA -- in Cleveland, Ohio by GoPro
Construction Solutions, LLC. GoPro is an affiliate of Talan Products, an
award-winning manufacturer with a 25-year track record of growth and customer
satisfaction and longevity.
